Eusebio Ayala

Happy Halloween everyone!

They don´t actually do anything for Halloween, so it´s just business as normal. A couple of kids actually told us that it was Halloween like 2 days ago. Poor confused children. I hope everyone up there is doing something nice and exciting for Halloween!

Down here is just the same ole same ole. Nothing too exciting happened this week either. It´s started getting hot and icky which is never fun, but I´ve inherited the headache pills from a missionary that just went home so I´m prepared for the summer. Yeah! Elder Milne hit one month in Paraguay sometime this week which is just too exciting. Now I feel like an obsessed parent or something because I´m living through the accomplishments of my child. Dang it. Anywho, he´s still doing well and not dead. He feels kind of sick right now though, but that´s to be understood because his body gets to adjust to the magical world of Paraguay. Yeah!

I don´t know if I ever said that our recent convert Ricardo was about to move for a month to some faraway land, but now he´s not going so all is well! He´s now helping us a ton with the work here in Eusebio Ayala. I bought him a Preach my Gospel when we went to the temple the other week, and it´s turning him into a missionary beast. It´s awesome. He even asked one of his friends if he believes that Joseph Smith was a prophet. What a boss. So yeah. He´s reading a lot and doing visits with us, and one of his friends came to church this week with her brother so that´s pretty exciting.

It decided to rain this week after a long time, which is always an adventure. It started to rain when we were walking around so I wanted to find shelter and wait out the rain, but good ole Elder Milne wanted to just keep on walking so we did like bosses. He thought it was fun for the first 5 minutes, but then the wind picked up and it got really really cold. I now realize as I´m typing this that the rain may have gotten him sick. I´m a crappy parent! Dang it. Anywho, now we know that rain isn´t very fun.

In investigator news, for right now we don´t have anyone super close for baptism, but we´ve found some of Ricardo´s friends that are looking good. He has some friend also named Ricardo that saw how much Baptized Ricardo has changed and he wants to change too, so we´re excited to start working with him some more. I hope it goes well!

Other than that, all is well in Eusebio Ayala. We´re working hard, and learning lots of stuff. :D Yeah! I love you all, and I hope you have a great week!

Elder Morris

Eusebio Ayala

Why hello!

All is well in Paraguay. Right now the weather is frightful and stormy. I´m actually really soaked because we had to walk to the cyber, but I made the sacrifce to write you all! Good ole South American downpours. At least it´s not super hot anymore. That´s always nice.

As far as exciting news goes, nothing too cool happened this week. We found out that Ricardo (recent convert) is going away for a month to work on building roads in some other city somewhere which is not good. He was doing lots of visits with us and helping us a ton, and now he´s going to leave! Dang it. I´ll still be here when he gets back, but it´s never good when our help decides to move. Also, the miracle contact that we had the other week has now announced to us that she has no desires whatsoever to find out if the Book of Mormon is true. Dang it. I personally think she is just scared to find out that she´s been in the wrong church her whole life, but we tried our hardest and bore some crazy testimony and now she has the tools to find out the truth. I just hope one day she decides to act.

Today for P day we went to Caacupe to play some soccer and basketball (I made a basket!) for Elder Claypool´s final Pday in Paraguay. It was pretty awesome and we had some food after which was nice. It was really sunny then. But then the rains came and all that stuff and it´s all wet. The power also just went out but gmail rocks and saves things! Yeeeeah!

Elder Milne is doing just swell. He´s learning all sorts of good spanish, and I´m learning how to speak in English again. So everyone is happy. He found a couple of spiders in his bed this past week which did not lead to a good night´s sleep. Poor Milne. I´ve never found animals in my bed. Yay! I´ve had some pretty crazy dreams lately too. Last night I rode some sort of cross between a great dane and a motocycle. It was cool.

Other than that, nothing new to report. Tomorrow I complete 14 months in the mission which is pretty nuts. Elder Milne is getting close to 1 month in Paraguay! They grow up so fast...sniff. I love you all, and I hope you have a sweet week!

Love,

Elder Morris

Pictures - October 2011

Eusebio Ayala

Hello everyone!

The top news of the week is that Norma Rojas and Ricardo Rolon got baptized this week! Yay! I´m pretty stoked about that. Ricardo turns 18 in less than a month so now he´s preparing himself to get some Melchezedik (spelling) Priesthood! He also told us last night that going on a mission is something that he really wants to do. So that´s pretty sweet! Now he´ll be helping us to find some more people to help here in Eusebio. He´s got lots of friends he says that would be interested so we´ll see what happens. He´s so cool.

We also got to go to the temple this week, which was really good. We went through an endowment session and did lots of confirmations too. Maybe pictures will follow if the computer doesn´t hate me. Vamos a ver. Elder Milne is still alive and settling in to good ole Paraguay. The stories have sort of calmed down now, and nobody is trying to kill him or anything like that. Sometimes he gets mad at me because I can´t speak English very well :( Well, I can speak English, but lots of times I want to throw in Spanish words cause they come to my head faster than the English ones. Then he can´t understand the Spanish words and fun things like that haha. Other than that, it´s all going well! We´re already halfway through his first change here in Paraguay which is just nuts. And, because of the two conferences we had recently, this was actually his first real Sunday here. He gave his first talk like a boss, and blessed the sacrament. We´ve also started assigning members here to help us with talks, and Sister Emi Gomez did a good job. We´re going to slowly start having them do more, because eventually it´ll be them running the branch. Yeah!

For Pday today, we didn´t do anything crazy. We cleaned a little more in the house, and relaxed and such. It was a nice break, and I´m feeling better now. I kind of have a cold or something which is always really annoying. I actually got the cold because we got stranded in a different city at 9:30 at night on Thursday, and the only person that stopped to give us a ride was a big ole truck full of food and stuff. We got to ride in the back, but the cold wind gave me a cold I think. I actually forgot about that story. Good times. We´re still alive and happy :)

Other than that, it was a normal week. We worked and taught, and then we had some baptisms! Yay! I hope you are all doing well up there in the States. I love you all, and hope you have an amazing week!

Eusebio Ayala

Well hello everyone!
Today wasn´t as intense as last week, but I´m sure that that´s probably better for some of you to hear. The week was full of working and sweating and all sorts of good things like that. We had district conference in Caacupe this Sunday which went well. There was a lot of people that couldn´t sing. Bless their hearts! We found a lady by miracle this week. We decided to eat at a different restaurant type thing this week for the first time in my stay here in Eusebio. So we go there and there is only one table open. On our way over to it, a lady totally beat us there and sat down. I decided to ask her what was for lunch so we could see if we wanted to wait for a table, and then she invited us to sit down and eat with her. We started talking and set up an appointment for the next day and all that. When we went, it was actually a pretty weird lesson and I wasn´t feeling too good about it all because she´d just talk about how much better the Catholic church is and things like that. We testified to her that we were sent by God to help her change her life, and she started to cry. As it turns out, she prayed a couple days before to get help in her life. Less than 12 hours later was when we all met up "by coincedence" in the restaurant. I told her that we were answers to her prayer and she can change her life with what we can show and teach her. Then she said she never thought that her answer would come by two mormons. She still had some doubts afterwards, but we left her a Book of Mormon with the commitment to read and pray, so we´ll see if she has the drive and faith to get her answer. It was a pretty intense lesson, and at least it helps me know that God is watching out for us and helping us help His children here in Paraguay. I hope she reads.

Also, today we went to a hill called Cristo Rey, which was pretty fun. It was kind of like a little hike and we all had fun. I took some pretty good photos, so we´ll see if I can send em. There were some good views of the city of Caacupe.

Elder Milne is still alive and doing well. He can already speak way better even though he doesn´t think so, but it´s amazing to see. I´m so proud of my son :D We´re also working to have 2 baptisms this Saturday so that´ll be good. Ricardo and Norma are going to get baptized and it´ll be sweet.

Other than that, it´s been a normal, good week here. It´s hot and only gets hotter now, but we´ll keep working in the heat. I love you all, and I hope you have a good week!

Other than the gun and spiders, it was a normal week

Oh hello!

So changes came and there are some new things going on! Elder Palacios went to San Lorenzo and now I´m training! My new comp is fresh from the MTC and his name is Elder Milne from Sandy. It´s pretty interesting being with a new elder again, but lots of fun. So far he´s not a big fan of Paraguayan food, but he´ll have to come around sooner or later or 2 years is going to be long. We´re working hard and both learning all sorts of new things every day. His first week was pretty interesting. We were contacting in a super poor part of our area and found a man sitting outside of his house. We clapped and he started yelling at us to leave now and never come back and things like that. Elder Milne couldn´t understand what was happening so I was translating kind of, and then the man ran inside, and I felt the very strong need to walk really really fast away. I grabbed Elder Milne and we sorta started jogging away and the man came back with a pistol! I yelled that we were very sorry and he stopped pointing the gun at me. It was pretty scary, but obviously the Lord got us out of there unharmed :D It makes for a good first week story for Elder Milne. Don´t worry, mom. :)

Conference was a little difficult for us down here. We had some severe satellite issues, but luckily we have a techy elder down here that had all the right cords to route the projector through the internet. The bad news is we had to watch everything in Spanish. That was not fun for all the new elders in our zone, including Elder Milne. They mostly just sat and stared at nothing haha. Awww. There were lots of good talks, and I´m excited to see them in paper form in a couple months. I seemed to gather that the laws of God are eternal and never changing. That´s cool to remember. Two of our investigators came with us to conference on Sunday so, they´re preparing well for their baptisms on the 15th of October so I´m pretty stoked for them. It´s going to be sweet!

Other than that, it´s just normal down here. Three of my senior comps are now back in the States, which is kind of weird for me. One of them gave me a tie though so I get to continue wearing it here in Paraguay. It´s all sorts of hot here which is no fun. We cleaned our house really well today, and killed all the spiders living over Elder Milne´s bed. He didn´t seem to think them living was a good idea. He also found his first tarantula under his desk this week. He´s had a pretty traumatic first week now that I think about it. I´m a pretty bad trainer I guess haha. Anywho, everything is going great down here! Now we live in a clean little house, free of spiders! I hope you all have an amazing week full of good things. I love you all, and you´re always in my prayers.

Love,
Elder Morris
